The Bala Brothers are a living testament that nothing great can be achieved without hard work and enthusiasm. They are world renowned for infusing Opera sounds with those of Popular African Music, which saw the birth of “Popera”, a new generation of African inspired classical music. It goes without saying that Zwai, Loyiso and Phelo need no introduction, as they have firmly established themselves as an internationally acclaimed brand that is very well travelled by showcasing their melodic harmonies in various parts of the world. The Bala Brothers talents have not only manifested themselves in world renowned performances but have been conceptualised into well packaged recorded material.

With their song writing, producing, arranging and performing artist expertise, the trio have managed to captivate music lovers with their first offering namely “B3”. The stunning album features a unique mix of songs that feature the soaring vocals of both internationally and nationally acclaimed artists. A fair share of the album was recorded with a full orchestra under the baton of Richard Cock which gave the album incomparable music class on the South African Music scene.

Their latest offering has seen the magnificent trio put together their sophomore album which is representative of the modern day South Africa. “Strome van Seen” is a personification of the constant progression and diversity of the B3 brand exceptionally produced by Zwai Bala and Cobus Snyman. Encompassing vocal prowess coupled with awesome and crossover song selection, this album will certainly entrench the Bala Brothers in the minds of a greater South African audience.

B3 have not only given their audience musical exhibitions but have also found themselves swimming in the ocean of prospective accolades. This year’s tone of achievements has been set by the ATKV Lier Award for Best Group of 2009. Again, they have been nominated not only once but twice under the categories Best Duo/Group and Best Afrikaans Gospel for the 2009 South African Music Awards. This is true testament of their undying passion and constant drive to succeed.
